Project Description

Houston Gateway Academy is a Charter School located in Houston, TX. The project consists of an approximately 65,000 sf school on 1.14 acres. The project is a typical urban infill lot, with significant site constraints. This project was a particular challenge to provide the necessary building size to accommodate the needs of the students, while still providing the required site improvements, including detention ponds, bus lanes and operations facilities. The project made use of negotiated parking leases with surrounding complementary uses, which both limited the amount of additional hard surfaces required in the urban setting, and fosters a sense of community cooperation.
